I'm never leaving

So I've spent the last two weeks in Chicago and I am positively sure that I want to live here when I finish school. My time at the Second City has been extremely educational and now I know what I need to do to get myself ready to be here. It's going to take a hell of a lot of work and practice but this is where I want to be. I've seen baseball and music and literally everything that I wanted to see here. The food is amazing in this town and if people get bored here it's their own damn fault. I hope that anyone who reads this is doing well. I come back home on Tuesday.

it's....a.......QUIZ!!!!

total volume of music files on my computer? 1500 songs, I have a laptop, I'm not cool.

last cd I bought? I bought two at the same time: "The Real Thing" by Faith No More and "Marquee Moon" by Television (p.s. if you haven't heard of Television, check them out, it's good stuff)

song playing just before I started this? something on the latest album from In Flames

song playing now? my sound design professor talking in the background

five songs I listen to a lot or that mean a lot to me:

1. "My Blue Heaven" by Fats Domino- this song always puts me in a good mood

2. "Raining Blood" by Slayer- this song also puts me in a good mood

3. "Ventura Highway" by America

4. "Faries Wear Boots" by Black Sabbath

5. "Omerta" by Lamb of God- this is just one of the most ferocious songs I've ever heard

I have three tests today and will pass one of them. This is the worst semester I have had yet as far as my grades go and it's not bothering me like it should. I hope I get over that sometime soon. I completely forgot about enrolling for next semester but it only started this week so I'm not late yet. I didn't even think about it really. I'm coming back and I want to come back but it just hasn't even crossed my mind. I went to a Slipknot, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall show the other night and it was really good. I'm not a Slipknot fan and I don't really enjoy their music but their drummer Joey Jordison did one of the coolest drum solo/stunts that I have ever seen, which made standing in the pit through their set almost worthwhile.

The week is almost over and that is good. I'm going to see Robert Plant on Friday and that will kick ass. Saturday I am driving to OS to enjoy my spring break and it should be good fun. I had my first practice with the new band I'm playing in last night. It's a country band and we play old country-blues stuff. It's really funny because I don't fit the part at all but the guys are cool and we all get along so it's cool. Our first show is March 19 at a bull riding tournament somewhere within the county. This all strikes me as hillarious and it's a good time. I got the word back from the Second City and I am officially in for my two weeks this summer in Chicago. I can't wait for that. It will quite possibly be the greatest and most influential two weeks of my life. I'll be home in three days. Later.

update

I had a performance last night that went really well and it's really nice to have that monkey off my back. Now I can get back to school work which has been tossed in the crapper as of late. All is right with the rest of my world except for the fact that I haven't heard back from the Second City people yet to know if they got my forms for summer classes. All in due time.

Efffin' Patriots

Surprise Surprise, the patriots win another Super Bowl by three points. Winning super bowls by three points does not qualify a team as a dynasty. That game, along with their other two wins were the weakest super bowl victories that I have ever seen. I am once again thouroughly disgusted with pro football and its knack for the anti-climactic. A possibly great game was just pissed down the tubes and again I find myself hating pro football. It was a close game and not a blowout which was a good thing but once again the winning team was saved by the clock. All I can say is that I have a feeling of disappointment. The only good thing is now that two teams from Boston have won titles this season, maybe my Celtics finally have a chance.

I figured I should make an update seeing as how I didn't want to be left out in the recent realm of Robert Plant posts. I too will be seeing the immortal Robert Plant but in Tulsa on March 11. The whole place is standing room only so I plan on getting there very early in order to be practicaly in his face. This will be one of the pinnacle moments of my life, right up there with the first time I saw Sabbath play. I'm very fortunate this semester in that I am getting to see some of my favorite musical acts such as Ted Nugent, Ben Folds, Steve Vai, Robert Plant, Shaddows Fall, and Lamb of God, not to mention those others that might pop up along the way. Less projects finally allow me to get out a little this semester. It's a nice change.

back to the grind

I don't mind the cold, but there's something about waking up to pouring rain that just puts me in an irreversible funk for the day. Even snow would be fine but not rain. Classes are going to be good this semester. My stage combat class is going to be pretty intense and I will either be in really good shape for the first time in life or die by the time it's over. We get to play with guns either way so that will be fun.

I'm in a coffee house at home. A home away from home I guess. I love something about coffee houses and I'm not sure what. I think it's the lighting and the quality music that is generally being played but not at the moment. There is no sound but noise generated by people other than music at the moment. ha. Black coffee is like drinking a cup full of respect. It's rich and only certain people can handle it. eeeyooowww. I'm seriously at a loss for what to do at the moment. I want to be in my appartment.

In Memorium

It's a little after the fact to some people, but the death of Dimebag is still weighing heavily on my mind and heart and I haven't had access to a computer to be able to express any of my feelings about this tragedy. Dime is my John Lennon and to many other people who consider themselves part of the music world, he was a legend in his own right as Lennon was. In no way am I comparing the talents of Lennon to Dime's because they were two totally different people with different agendas when it came to music but the bottom line is they were amazing talents in the world of music and it is tragic to have lost them so early in their lives. I was one of the true Pantera fans still holding out for Phil to someday kick his drug habit and for the guys to get back together for at least one more album which had a good possibility of happening somewhere down the road. But thanks to someone's selfish, misconstrued ideas this will never happen. I'm not really angry at the man who did this because I know crazy people exist in the world and that things like this happen all the time and we never hear about them. That is just a difficult part of life that we all try to accept and deal with the best we can. I am though deeply sadened by what has happened and will never forget the influence that Pantera's music and especially Dime's guitar playing have had in my own musicianship and life. The next time I drink a Blacktooth Grin, I'll pour a little out for Dime and I'll never forget his contributions to the world of heavy metal. Rest In Peace brother.

Today I was eating chicken at lunch and for some reason I thought of this and wanted to share it:

If you were someone who had a breast removed and then soon after had it replaced, you would be known as someone who had suffered from short term mammory loss.

I know it's gay but I made me laugh and pee a little.

life

Life continues and things are good. I found out my acting professor is in the new Dawn of the Dead. He's one of the zombies that gets shot in the head outside of the mall. I thought that was cool. If it was possible to make a continent sized King James bible, too many people would jump in behind it, not knowing what they were using as a shield and this bothers me not as a christian but as a human.

vacation all I ever wanted

I'm in Starkville. Fall Break A Palooza continues as we tore down the goal post yesterday and then saw Napoleon Dynamite. Had food with friends today and some good back in the day conversations which are always nice. I will make this announcement to let you all know where I stand. Due to the recent shortcomings of my beloved Yankees and their failure to oust the hated Red Sox, I will from this point on sever my ties of fandom to the team and shall now be known as one of the few and proud Detroit Tigers faithfull. I cheered them as far as I could and it seems as though my time with them is now done. It was good and I in no way dislike the Yankees but is time to take my loyalty elsewhere for it is needed by another lowly team whom I must cheer to the top. That's all I have to say about that and let it not be discussed any further. One final note, the Red Sox deserved to beat New York because they played harder and in the end they deserve to win the championship even though I still do not like them. I would greatly appreciate it if this were the last time I had to talk about it. Thank You.

I am now 21 and that is pretty cool. I am typing on a french keyboard and it is different and is also pissing me off. I have to think to much to use it. I got way drunk last night and it was great. My buddy from St. Louis took me to the bars with him and we drank a lot. It was fun. I will be in Starkville next weekend on my fall break. Should be a good time. My Pinstripers are up 4 to 3 on those bastards from Beantown right now and it will be my birthday present from them if they pull off the sweep tonight. Go Bombers.

zipity freakin doo daa

So today isn't one of the best days ever but it's not totally bad yet. The yankees lost last night but hope not even nearly lost for I know they will make it to the series to lose to the Cardinals, it's their destiny. Rodney Dangerfield died yesterday which is upsetting and I'm really glad I got to see him before he died but at least it wasn't Bill Cosby. Only Jamie will get that reference so I'm sorry for the rest of you who read this that don't understand.
I have my second sinus infection in two weeks so the doctor put me on steroids and the only antibiotic that is capable of protecting against anthrax so I should be better sometime soon. It's starting to cool of some here and it's drizzling here today which makes for some nice fall weather. Kait S., I'm pretty sure that I missed your birthday and for that I feel like an ass and I'm sorry. I'm going to Starkville in about two weeks to see people, you know who you are, and that should be a blast. For some reason I'm looking forward to being home for Christmas and I guess it's because this is the longest I've been away from my family, about 4 months I guess. I'm currently trying to put stuff together for my application to The Second City in Chicago for next summer which will be great if it all works out. Gotta go get grub. later.

I went to see Ben Folds in Norman last night and they cancelled his performance because the university didn't supply the sufficient equipment for him to play. What that means exactly, I don't know but I was pissed. We all went ice skating instead and it was fun.

what's free time again?

I been so insanely busy since I started class. I'm in four very project oriented classes and they keep me going constantly which is why I'm in the library on a Saturday before a football game when I should be eating and having a beer. Incubus played here last night for our big pep rally thing we have every year called Orange Peel. They were really good and the crowd really seemed to be into the show which made it better. During the middle of "Stellar" they went into a verse and the chorus of " Do Do Do, Da Da Da" by the Police which was really awesome. I enjoyed it thoroughly although the people around me kept tapping me and asking what song it was because my friends and I were the only people in our area on the field that knew the song. That's college I guess. I went to my first toga party of my college experience which was very cool. It ended up with me and several others sitting around in togas and singing Oasis and Van Morrisson at about 3:30 in the morning which was pretty fun. I got my ticket to see Ben Folds on October 1 in Norman,OK which will be amazing yet again. I almost forgot to say the Jim Breuer was the host for the concert last night and I got to interview him on my friend's radio show the other day and that was a cool thing. He wasn't actually there like he was supposed to be but he called in and we got to chat a little bit. He can get somewhat annoying after a while but he was a nice guy and easy to interview.

I'm ready

So the last two weeks have been good overall. I got to see Sabbath before coming home and that was totally mindblowing. I had my wisdom teeth taken out last week and it could have been a lot worse than it was. I had my stitches taken out today and I feel about 97%, so maybe one more day and I'll be back to normal. I'm really ready to get back to school to my new place and be on my own finally. My roommates were really getting on my nerves and if I didn't leave it could have gotten pretty ugly. I started dating this girl about two weeks before I left school and I really like her but for some reason I don't feel like she's my girlfriend and I guess that I'm worried that a girlfriend will get in the way of everything that I have set out for myself this semester. If everything works out close to the way I want it to this year, I should find myself staring a completely new world next summer which is what I really want for myself. I hope to be working steadily in my spare time by the spring and making some opportunities for myself. Right now it's though I have an empty plate and I'm looking at the food with the serving spoon in my hand. I know exactly what I want, all I have to do is just scoop it up and I can start eating. Sorry for the metaphors.
